Driveway Contractor Hiring Checklist
Compare written scope—not just total price. A clear proposal identifies preparation, drainage, materials, quantities or compacted depth, equipment, exclusions and change-order process.
Scope questions
- What existing material will be removed, reused or reshaped?
- How will the surface shed water, and where will outlets discharge?
- What aggregate specification, source and estimated quantity are included?
- What lift placement and compaction equipment are planned?
- Who obtains access, ditch, culvert or environmental approvals?
Verification
- Confirm applicable licensing, insurance and references directly.
- Ask for a written schedule, payment milestones, warranty terms and exclusions.
- Do not rely on this site as a contractor endorsement or referral agency.
